Coal Mining

DARESA INVESTMENT LTD is considered a diversified supplier in the coal mining industry, specializing in the exploration, extraction, and distribution of coal for energy generation purposes. The company operates coal mines in the KAROO BELT of southern Tanzania, specifically in the Songea region, in a place called Mhukuru coalfields near the Mhukuru River. This area is estimated to have around a billion tonnes of high-quality coal products, featuring highly volatile BITUMINOUS COAL with fair ash and low sulfur content suitable for sale to power plants, industrial manufacturers, and other energy companies. We also export coal products.

As part of the company’s decision to diversify into coal transportation, we have successfully established robust networks with coal miners in rural areas of Songea, Ruvuma region. Consequently, we can now export up to 30,000 tonnes per month to the destination port in Mtwara or warehouses across the country. Moreover, this tonnage may increase to 60,000 tonnes per month as we are currently expanding our mining operations and networks.

Operations

Surface mining, Coal surface mining is a method of extracting coal from the surface of the earth by removing the overlying rock and soil. This process is also known as strip mining or open-pit mining. Many Tanzania coal beds are very near the ground’s surface, and about two-thirds of coal production comes from surface mines. Modern mining methods allow us to easily reach most of our coal reserves. Due to growth in surface mining and improved mining technology, the amount of coal produced by one miner in one hour has more than tripled since 2000.

DARESA INVESTMENT LTD we use Surface mining because it is less expensive than underground.Surface mining can be used when coal is buried less than 200 feet underground.
